Internationaler FreshBrains Workshop
In 2007, Professor Jürgen Gerlach, Head of the Institute for Road Traffic Planning and Road Traffic Technology at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and Professor Vladimier Zyryanov, Head of the Chair of Transport Organization and Road Traffic at the State Construction University Rostov-on-Don in Russia, launched the "International Student Workshop on Road Planning and Road Safety". Since 2010, students led by Professor Marion Doerfel, Professor at the Berne University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland, and Professor Christo Bester and Professor Marion Sinclair, both University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, have also been taking part in this workshop.
The workshop takes place annually in one of the participating countries. The respective university in the host country is responsible for both the content and management of the project as well as the coordination of other activities related to the workshop. The subject of the workshops is the processing of a joint project task on road traffic planning and road safety by the participating students.
Besides the technical processing of the tasks, getting to know each other's work and approach is the main focus of the exchange. In addition to the intensive project work, joint leisure and excursion activities are intended to awaken the students' interest in the culture and way of life of the host country. Due to the different nationalities, the workshop language is English.
